China Survey Database Member Management System
Chapter 1 Membership
Article 1 Any institution or individual who wants to apply for and use the data published by the database must first obtain membership.
(1) Institutional membership is applicable to domestic institutions of higher learning, research institutions, and government policy research departments.
Individual members: members of the expert steering committee of the database, domestic data sources contributors, and domestic project partners
Individual members: teachers and researchers affiliated with institutional members
Individual members: teachers and researchers from domestic institutions of higher learning, research institutions, and government policy research departments.
Individual members: other individuals who apply for data
Article 2 Membership must be obtained after approval by the database and will be effective after payment of the first membership fee.
Article 3 A member's arrears of contributions for three months shall be deemed as the automatic waiver of membership. Members may also apply to the database for cancellation of membership by email or mail.
Article 4 The institution or individual must submit the background information truthfully when applying for membership. If a false information is used to obtain membership, the database will immediately cancel its membership and will never accept it as a member.
Article 5 Members shall strictly abide by the treaty in the “China Survey Data Database Data Use Agreement”. If a breach of the agreement is found, the database will immediately cancel its membership.
Chapter II Member Rights and Obligations
Article 6 The database will try its best to provide the same high quality services for all types of members, but the content of the services will vary depending on the category of the members.
Individual members of the class: Enjoy access to all publicly available data in the database free of application downloads and applications for all restricted information.
Individual members: Enjoy access to all publicly available data in the database free of application downloads and partial restricted information.
Personal members of the class: Enjoy all public data materials in the database free of application downloads, and do not enjoy the use of restrictive materials.
Individual members of the class: enjoy the application downloading of the public data of the database, and do not enjoy the use of restrictive materials.
Article 7 Members shall not use the data obtained from the database to engage in activities that endanger national security, social public interests and the legitimate rights and interests of others.
Article 8 Members are obliged to protect and respect the privacy of the respondents involved in the data, and do not explore, disclose, or disseminate information that may confirm the identity of the respondent. If the data is found to contain information that may identify the respondent, the member is obliged to immediately notify the database administrator.
Article 9 The data materials authorized by the members for use in the database do not have the right to copy, distribute, publish, or translate into foreign languages, and may not use the data materials or develop and produce products for commercial purposes. Any format or any copy of the data is treated as the original data. Members may make necessary modifications to the data content and convert the data format as needed, but the modified and converted data may not be released and provided without permission.
Article 10 The member guarantees that only the data materials authorized by the database will be used for my research, and the data shall not be shared to third parties in any way or form, including other members of the member's research team.
Article 11 The research results formed by members based on data authorized by the database, including books, articles, conference papers, dissertations, policy reports, and other publications, shall be marked with reference to the data source, including the author of the data. And the publisher.
Article 12 Members shall not use the data materials authorized by the database for any profitable activities.
Article 13 After a member voluntarily or compulsory to cancel a membership, the use of all data provided by the database must be terminated and the data obtained from the database must be destroyed. The specific measures are as follows:
(1) completely removed from the computer hard disk and storage device/space;
(2) Destroying data text files;
(3) Destroying the original physical medium.
Chapter III Membership Fees
Article 14 Members shall pay the membership fee for the next member year to the database before the start of the new membership year. The member year is 12 months after the member approval date.
Article 15 Individual members of category A are permanently exempt from membership dues. Class B individual members are exempt from membership dues if their membership is valid. Institutional members and individual members of categories C and D are exempt from membership dues when the database is adequately funded by government funds.
